Following divorce the kid met his first long term musical accomplice at Bryant Junior High, as seen in Yunbo\u2019s \u2018The 1970s<\/em>: Andr\u00e9 and Me\u2019<\/em>, and how Prince joined his pal\u2019s far happier family.<\/p>\n

As they moved further into sounds and formed early bands, Samir Dahmani details \u20181975-1978: The Gift of Music\u2019 <\/em>with Andr<\/em>\u00e9 sharing his own dream as the boys cut that crucial first album\u2026<\/p>\n

Realised by<\/em> C\u00e9heu, \u20181977-1978:<\/em> The Art of Standing Your Ground\u2019 <\/em>shows how the young genius secures a nigh-impossible deal with Warner Bros Records (WEA) for a 3-record deal and blows it all on new technologies and getting even better at every aspect of his obsession, consequently making more music to die for\u2026<\/p>\n

The next phase of his rise is dissected in \u20181979-1980: A Star is Born\u2019 <\/em>limned by Christelle P\u00e9cout exploring the transition from studio savant to stage god, after which Jo\u00ebl Alessandra peeks at \u20181980-1983: Sex, Etc.\u2019 <\/em>dealing with Prince\u2019s disastrous gig supporting the Rolling Stones and the lessons learned. Always courting controversy and perpetually reinventing himself, the drive to shock intensified, and the release of double album 1999 finds the music man becoming impresario of a clan of interrelated bands and core collaborators on stage and in the studio resulting in \u20181984: Revolution Under a Purple Rain\u2019 <\/em>(rendered by Martin Trystram). Having mastered the movie sector, \u20181985: Jammin\u2019 With Sheila\u2019 <\/em>by Samuel Figui\u00e9re diverts to deconstruct crucial percussion potentate and most significant other Sheila Escovado before returning to roots and constructing his personal performance pleasure dome, as revealed by Baudouin Forget in \u20181986: Paisley Park\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n

With a stable base to build and transform from, \u20181987-1988: Consecration: Sign o\u2019 the Times<\/strong>\u2019 <\/em>– by Yvan Ojo – steps away to Paris to view the creation of the landmark album and tour through the eyes of a certain fan before Hollywood calls – or is it receives? – notification of fabulous film action in Anne Defr\u00e9ville\u2019s \u20181989: Prince and the Movies: Batman<\/strong>\u2019 <\/em>(with cameos from Tim Burton and Jack Nicholson)\u2026<\/p>\n

Twelve years into a glittering career and promoting the era of a New Power Generation, \u20181991\u2019: Diamonds and Pearls\u2019 <\/em>(P\u00e9cout) finds Prince at the top of the world before that old contract causes fresh grief in \u20181992-1997: Tough Times\u2026\u2019 <\/em>as delineated by Barrack Rima.<\/p>\n

Toru Terada\u2019s art opens the period signified by a graphic symbol and the acronym TAFKAP in \u20181998-2000: \u2026And Rebirth\u2019 <\/em>as the star in self-exile explores the burgeoning universe of the World Wide Web. He also changes religions in \u20182001-2002: As God is my Witness\u2026\u2019 <\/em>(No\u00e9mie Honein). Thereafter Samuel Figui\u00e9re<\/strong> orchestrates \u20182004-2006: The Comeback\u2019 <\/em>whilst Christopher recaptures \u20182007: The Greatest Show in the World\u2019 <\/em>and Kongkee details the beginning of a new musical legacy in \u20182009: Prince Producer\u2019 <\/em>before L\u00e9ah Touitou traces his return to basic principles for \u20182013-2015: 3RDEYEGIRL\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Then, just as it was then, there\u2019s a sudden surprise end as detailed by Barrack Rima in \u20182016: The End of All Songs\u2019<\/em>\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n
