The cruelly avaricious observer is <em>Obaga, Queen of Shadows<\/em> and as her minions constantly confirm, \u201cthe Shadow rises\u201d&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>With ebon emissaries sowing terror and discord, the crisis begins when blithely unaware ruler of Hightown <em>Lord Edar of House Thawn<\/em>, his sons <em>Tarik<\/em> and <em>Lorban<\/em> and faithful warrior mage <em>Kal Jotan<\/em> are ambushed by marauding dark raiders. Thankfully, before his defeat, Kal sends a magical message to Heaven\u2019s Blade, the fortress-citadel that is home to all arcane knowledge and the current boarding school of Edar\u2019s mystically-gifted daughter <em>Scarlett Thawn<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>When her studies are interrupted by tidings that she is now last surviving Thawn and ruler of Hightown, she accepts that she must leave. Her potent but daunting tutor <em>Lord Igon<\/em> soon despatches Scarlett (and her beastly familiar <em>Rumpus<\/em>) on the long journey home, and offers sage advice and an ancient scroll that is far from what it seems&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The scholar has long anticipated trouble and knows the world\u2019s governing <em>Council of Flowers<\/em> is not up to confronting the forces of evil; The Shadow has contingency plans of her own.
